Synonymise [tsp] and [traveling-salesman]

I'd vote for traveling-salesman being the master and tsp being a synonym. Same for vehicle-routing (master) and vrp (synonym).

Optimization vs Optimisation in tags

By convention tags should be in American spelling. So optimization is default, but you can add the synonym optimisation See this page on the main Meta.SE: What should the standard spelling be - ...

Optimization vs Optimisation in tags

I'd vote to follow Google and the consensus elsewhere (i.e., US for tags; free-for-all elsewhere). An open question is queueing vs. queuing though :) Perhaps we can let the first asker decide.

What should our tags look like?

I suggest that for types of optimization problems, we use the full name, and the most common one; so: linear-programming, integer-programming, mixed-integer-programming, etc. ~~Also, "program", not "...

Should tags be singular or plural?

I would prefer the plural This is also the way Wikipedia lists categories. For example, looking up heuristic reveals the categories: heuristics, problem solving methods. While it is no big deal, ...

Synonymise [lp] and [linear-programming]

I believe linear-programming should be the master. It is more intuitive, self-explanatory, and easy to read. lp can be a synonym. It seems that folks prefer linear-programming to linear-program, so I ...

A quick search on Stack Overflow shows that questions about classical problems are tagged like traveling-salesman, vehicle-routing, shortest-path, etc. In order to keep it consistent, I think it's ...

Should we have a custom tag for questions deviating from SE norms?

I vote for “subjective”, with “discussion” my second choice.

Synonymise [mixed-integer-programming] and [milp]

I think mixed-integer-programming should be the master, for similar reasons as I mentioned for [linear-programming] here. I also think that both mip and milp should be synonyms. There might be some ...

If I am not wrong, in the UK (also Australia afaik) OR is called Operational Research. So I guess if the community is named as Operations Research, we should follow American English, right?
